The Washington Legislature recently reaffirmed the strong public policy in this state concerning the protection of victims of domestic violence. The statement of legislative intent provides:
HB 2777 (Effective June 10, 2010) NEW SECTION. Sec. 101.
The legislature intends to improve the lives of persons who suffer from the adverse effects of domestic violence and to require reasonable, coordinated measures to prevent domestic violence from occurring. The legislature intends to give law enforcement and the courts better tools to identify violent perpetrators of domestic violence and hold them accountable.
… .
Robert M. Seines shares the legislature’s views about the need to protect intimate partners and their children from perpetrators of domestic violence and the need to hold the offenders accountable for the harm they inflict on their family and household members.
His extensive training and experience on the bench has also provided him the perspective and knowledge of resources in the community to rehabilitate willing offenders.
Rob will help you obtain the following protection orders under State and Tribal Law:
State law provides that successful protection order petitioners in all but the RCW 7.90 cases are entitled to obtain a judgment against the perpetrator for reimbursement of your court costs and reasonable attorney’s fees.
Federal law requires Washington to give full faith and credit to protection orders issued in other states or Tribal Courts. Rob will assist with the registration of your foreign protection order in Washington and your Washington Protection Order in other states or Tribal Courts.
Rob also represents assault, harassment, and sexual misconduct victims in the litigation of their personal injury claims against perpetrators. We aggressively litigate these claims, and if a judgment is awarded we will aggressively collect the judgment. We will also assist you with the collection of restitution judgments in criminal cases.
